NextStop ("we", "our", "the app") is a community-run bus and transit information service for Bolpur and the surrounding area in West Bengal, India. This page explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
- Account information — when you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo.
- Content you submit — buses, routes, stop names, stop times, and reports you add to help other riders.
- Payment details for rewards — if you submit a UPI ID to receive point-based payouts, we store that ID against your account.
- Usage data — pages you visit and searches you make on NextStop, used to improve the service and to see which routes/stops riders are searching for but can't find.
- Location — only if your browser/device shares it with us, to show buses and stops near you.
2. How we use your information
- To show you relevant buses, routes, and arrival information.
- To attribute and reward the buses, stops, and time corrections you contribute.
- To pay out point-based rewards to the UPI ID you provide.
- To detect and prevent spam or abuse of the community contribution system.
- To improve the app based on what riders search for and use most.
3. Advertising and cookies
NextStop may show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
4. Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:
- Google, for sign-in and for serving ads (as described above).
- Other riders, in the form of content you choose to contribute publicly (e.g. a bus you add is visible to everyone; your UPI ID is never shown publicly).
- Law enforcement or authorities, only if legally required.
5. Your choices
- You can update or remove your submitted UPI ID anytime from the Withdrawal page.
- You can turn off arrival notifications from your Profile page.
- You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us (see below).
6. Data retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. Public contributions (buses, stops, times) may remain visible to help other riders even after an account is deleted, but will no longer be linked to your name.
7. Children's privacy
NextStop is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
